Group Mentoring Program
1.Who can participate in Ladies In Waiting?
We are open to female residents of Douglas County, GA, who are currently in grades 8-11.

2. How much does it cost to become a Jewel?
There is currently an application fee of $25, which may be tax deductible. Ladies In Waiting is a non profit,
501(c)3 organization. We rely heavily on donations from the public, grants from foundations and corporations,
as well as our own fundraising activities to cover other costs.
3. Where are the round table sessions held?
Round table mentoring sessions are held at Deer Lick Park and various sites in Douglas County. In Fall 2009
we will include more sites in surrounding counties.
4. How are Jewels selected?
Anyone interested in becoming a Jewel must first complete an application. Applications are reviewed by our
staff and Board of Directors. Those meeting at least the minimum qualifications will be invited to become a
Jewel.
5. How often are round table mentoring sessions?
Round table sessions are held a minimum of once a month.
6. Are monetary contributions tax deductible?
We have been issued tax exempt status by the IRS. When a contribution is made, our office will supply you
with our tax exempt number and a receipt. Depending on your tax status you may be able to include your
donation on your taxes.
7. How do I become a mentor?
Any female interested in becoming a mentor is required to complete an application, which can be found here
on our site. Mentor applications are then reviewed, and background checks are completed. Invitations to
become a mentor are extended to those who we believe will make a positive impact on the lives of our
Jewels.
8. Is there training for mentors?
Yes. We offer monthly training to mentors based on what topic will be discussed during monthly round table
sessions.
9. How long am I expected to volunteer as a mentor?
Mentors are asked to commit to at least one semester(3-6 months). Any mentor can commit to more than the
minimum. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, but are unable to commit to the minimum of one
semester, we ask that you consider volunteering in another capacity.
10. Do you accept in-kind donations?
Yes. If you have office equipment, or products that you believe our organization could benefit from, we would
truly appreciate the donation.
